AIRBORNE SCHOOL
After completing the BCT, the new Privates will attend Army Airborne School, widely known as Jump School. Privates will conduct their basic paratrooper training which consists of three phases.
GROUND PHASE
The first phase of the Basic Airborne Course is dedicated to teaching prospective troopers the types of jumps conducted, the aircraft used, how to prepare for a jump, the phases of flight and the protocol for conducting a jump.
TOWER PHASE
The second phase of Jump School concentrates on the jump towers. Prospective troopers will implement the skills and techniques learnt from the previous phase into simulated exit training. Soldiers will practice simulated jumps from a tower as a team under the direct instruction and supervision of their Drill Sergeant.
TOWER PHASE
Finally, soldiers get to practice their new skills while jumping out of real aircraft in flight. The team must complete 4 jumps without fault, to graduate Airborne School.
